Cleo and Will - Parents

UroguyfromNY Aug 21, 2003 03:17 PM

The parents of the 15 eggs are Willhiem, which I caught in 1997 I believe on Little berdoo canyon rd.
And Cleo was caught on March 13th, 2003... also from Little Berdoo Canyon Rd (can ya tell I like going to the hot spots off Dillion rd? )

I'm so excited that she laid, and that she laid so many!

I'll keep you all posted.

You'll have to let us know about these. Great pics. and 15 eggs is a blessing!

What's your incubation setup?

I have a Havibator knock-off I bought in a pinch last year for our Bearded Dragon eggs.

The set up ~ The bottom is covered with a damp layer of vermiculite - this aids in keeping the humidity up. Resting on top of the virmicuite are two tupperware tubs. These tubs have slightly damp vermiculite in them. The eggs are placed in slight depressions made in the vermiculite. The tubs are covered with lids that have about 10 holes in them. (gas exchange/breathing).

The temps are between 87 and 89 degrees and humidity in the low 70s

Here's a pic of the 15 eggs. Looks like only 11 are going to make it. Some of the eggs have collapsed.

P.S. Juanita, our Amboy female, is digging right now... I think today might be the day she lays her eggs!!

Boy do I know how it feels to go from 15 eggs to 11 to 7, ultimately to 0, due to failed eggs! Bummer. How do you regulate the dampness of the vermiculite? I've apparently kept mine too wet. Do you use the vermiculite/water ratio by weight? I'm going to try that next time my chucks give me some eggs.

Best of luck to you! What a thrill it must be to wake up one day, look in the incubator, and see some little chucks wandering around!
