Hi I am a new sulcata owner and had a couple questions about creating a safe enclosure. Right now I have him in a 12x16 pen with two foot high fencing but am worried about raccoons. I have read on multiple websites that raccoons are known to attack tortoises, has anyone had any problems/experience with this? I could potentially create a higher fence but don't want to make it a hassle to get to the tortoise for feeding etc. I have heard of people using coyote urine and electric fencing to repell raccoons. Are these effective deterrents? Finally, is there a certain stage at which the tortoises are less vulnerable to predators like this (my tortoise is 3 years old, 5 lbs and about 9.5 inches long)? Any information is greatly appreciated.
