How do you keep the humidity correct with a screen cage like that? Both are nice enough looking animals but I am not into hybrids that much.

I live in Orlando so the humidity is quite high. All of my GTP cages are screened. The ones that are indoors get misted a few times a week. People have the tendency to keep the humidity too high and this leads to chronic respiratory infections.
Yup, it's all about the ambient environment. If the room is the right humidity, then tightly closed enclosures and/or misting are not necessary. So much for the theory that GTP’s can’t be kept in screened enclosures or aquariums. Though I’m not a big fan of lot’s of screen due to the nose rubbing potential. What’s important is that the temp/humidity in the snake’s cage is correct. I’m in south Florida and for 8- 9 months out of the year humidity in my snake cages is between 60-70% with no effort on my part at all.

I have many screened cages and have used them for over 10 years and none of my GTP's have lesions from nose rub. On the other hand, Green tree monitors do get abrasions from rubbing their nose on the screen.

Good luck I wish you the best. One of my favorite hybrids.

Very true but most people who live in such a humid environment use AC, as you may know running the AC makes the humidity very low. I live in PA so I honestly didn't know it stayed humid for that long, what do you do for the other 4-3 months? Of course assuming you don't run the AC or more then likely the AC isn't ran all day in these snake rooms, seems like a decent setup..

My snake room is AC free. It is setup to have an ambient environment (temp and humidity) that is python friendly. The rest of the house has an ambient environment that is human friendly, which means lots of AC in FL. For the other 3 - 4 months of the year, I use artificial means (heaters and humidifiers) to keep the snake room python friendly. This way all that's needed is a little heat tape to provide the warm spots. Now I realize not everyone has a snake room and snakes sometimes share the human environment; in which case I agree that screened cages or screen topped aquariums are unsuitable for GTPs.

I have a snake room, but unfortunately it shares a human habitat! I close the vent for the AC and open the windows, but the humidity still wouldn't remain sufficient for the chondros...even in S. Carolina. At least not where I am. We had a few weeks here where the humidity was unreal...certainly chondro happy humidity, but the temperatures were so high, I had to open the AC vent to avoid temps getting in the 100's in my room. With the humidity factor worked in, we were experiencing temps over 110 degrees. Not good!
