Is my ball python stuck?

Maegan08 Sep 17, 2007 04:48 PM

I got my baby ball python on saturday and i put a log into the tank and he crawled in it (i didnt think he could fit in the hole that was in it) and scince he went in i havent seen him come out! I dont know if hes stuck in there or what and i cant reach him from where he is in the log...i tried moving the log into a different spot and putting the heat lamp over another hide box but he still hasnt come out and his skin feels cool when i touch him (i can barely touch him, hes in too far) what should i do? Do you think hes stuck or hes just staying in there because its a new tank? thanks!

He is not stuck. They are AMAZING the places they can get into & out of.

They are not like stupid cats that go up a tree and cant get down..

(only kidding, I like cats but some of them are pretty dumb w/the tree thing - no?)

Good luck.

If it has 2 ways out, you could dip the tail end into some tepid water, he will most likely run out. Just make sure he can get out from another direction...

check it after dark....if it is out of the log......take the log out and recut it or keep it out........

balls are as dumb as cats I bet.....

at least we can always shoot a cat to get it to come out of the tree......

shooting a ball in a tank will break the tank...

......it's a joke people.........!

While grace does not seem to be a ball python's biggest strength, agility and finding tight hiding places certainly rank up there.

I've seen mine go backwards when in a tight spot.

Sounds like the hole is a favored, secure hiding place.

Congrats on the new family member!

Ball pythons are shy, nocturnal animals, they always stay in their hides unless they're eating, drinking, or mating. He's doing just fine, don't keep messing with him or you'll stress him out.
