They are not available in the states at all. Sorry
Jon
They just don't talk about them much.
They have been in this country for 20 or 30 years, just like all the other Aussie herps.
From what I understand you there is none available in the US. Here in Canada there have been quite a few lately. A couple of friends of mine have produced three clutches of 8, 12 and 6 babies. Unfortunetly there's not much of a market here in Canada for them so they only sell for $200-$300. The babies are very nice looking but again, they get too large for the average keeper. Okay, I guess I'm stretching this a bit long. Just joking on all accounts. But boy it would be nice.
Here in the US are a few in private collections. There are rare occasions that they go up for sale, seems like once every 5-10 years you wil see one or 2 on KS classifieds. The last examples were very young, but were still between $10,000-$20,000 each.
They appear when someone who does have them breeds them, or when young examples are bred in zoos, for some reason they end up going up for sale instead of going to other zoos, suprise suprise, higher bidders I guess.
Anyone who thinks they are not here, or are common here is dreaming, they are here, just in rare collections.
I hope your wallet is very big if you want one.
