Unusual Western Diamondback?

boakid77 Sep 17, 2007 08:57 PM

I found this Diamondback on a dirt road yesterday. I have never seen one like it, is it anything special? I wish I had taken more pictures of it.

Hypo at the least.

Did you find this in New Mexico? The reason I am asking is that there is a populuation of these very unusually colored/patterned atrox in N.M (not sure if they are true "hypo's" but still very attractive. They are very stunning.

Yeah, I'm gonna go with hypo as well...Too bad you didn't get a shot of the tail bands...would love to see if they're faded or not...in any event, that's a smokin' animal!

Good example of how removing this one snake from the wild could save so many more from being collected. If used in a selective breeding program to establish the hypo, I think a lot of people might like to keep that instead of the far more common “wild” type. I think it’s a beauty.
