Ranco Thermostats?

ttreptile1 Aug 21, 2003 04:16 PM

I was able to get two Ranco Digital thermostats through Grainger for a steal. Now I need to wire them up when I get them tomorrow. Anyone out there know if its easy to wire these guys up with a surge strip and a plug end? I see them in the cage classifieds all the time, so somebody must know how. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

They come with wiring instructions. That doesn't guarantee that you'll know how though. You need some knowledge of electrical circuits - i.e. relay contacts, AC hot and neutral wires, etc. On a polarized plug, the wide spade is neutral; the narrow spade is connected to the hot wire. For heating, set the unit on H for heating and wire the common and normally-open contacts of the thermostat. Set the differential to about 4 deg or less for most apps. For cooling, wire the common and normally-closed contacts and select C for cooling.
