Can turtles cry?

Fusiongt Aug 21, 2003 04:24 PM

Just curious, sounds like a dumb question...

but my two RES were on the basking rocks for about a hour and I was looking at my big one really close up (they aren't afraid or anything) and he blinked one of his eyes and water came out of it kinda like how humans have tears.

Are they crying or is it just a way of keeping their eyes moist while they are dry? Strange ol' turtles
