What are signs that a snake is stressed and what can happen if it becomes too stressed?

When my snake was stressed it didn't eat.

I just moved my snake to a tank by itself, and covered the tank
in newspaper. I left her alone for a week, and she started eating again.
After feeding her twice i removed the newspaper, and she has been
pounding medium rats ever since.
