Balls acting strangely...

HandInTheFlame Sep 19, 2007 09:27 AM

Hey guys. So I'm not overly worried, but I was just wondering if anyone has experienced this before?
Last night I went to go check on the little guys only to realize that the snake room smelt awful. I thought maybe it was just time to change bedding or something... however, when I peaked inside the cages I found that two snakes (I should note that they're caged right next to each other) had pooped, and then laid in it and smeared it all over their cages. Normally, they just do their business and move away...
Anyway, I checked temps/humidity and they're all good (~85-95F, 65-70%humidity), and gave them fresh water... The snakes seem to be doing fine and healthy, I just thought it was strange. Also, when I went to move the female so I could clean her cage she didn't move at all when I touched her back until I had actually lifted her up (which weirded me out a little)...
This isn't anything I should be worried about, is it?

Nothing serious. I think they do this now and then just because they can . If they dirty themselves just wipe em down and put em back.

That's exactly what I did and they seem to be perfectly fine now... I've just never experienced it before and to have it happen with two snakes right next to each other the same evening was just odd. Anyway, thanks!

I have one female that does it without fail EVERY time she poops. She slithers through it and paints the newspaper in her tub. Then she gets all hissy pissy when I wipe her down. *eyeroll*

would you expect anything less from a female?

Yes!!! She should be proper and clean and ladylike. This one is really trashy and dirty. LOL!

Yeah, the male has never been so vocal with me in my life as when I was moving him away from his poop and wiping him down... He was hissing up a storm, when normally he's a teddy bear.
Sheesh.
