enclosure

Hi

I was thinking of using tile as the floor (with a sandbox) for my uro's enclosure. My question is, how do I cut the tile (normal kitchen tile)to fit? I noticed that there are many people on this forum that build their own enclosures, so I figured somebody could help.

To give a quick update to my current enclosure: I cut a hole in the screen top to let the Powersun shine through. I also bought a florescent fixture and bendable wire to hang it in the tank. I will be using a Reptisun 10.0 with the new fixture.

Thanks.

If you don't have a tile cutter, you can go to HD or Lowes and they usually charge $1/cut or something like that. A local tile shop might do the same. My tile shop gives several free cuts if you buy the tile from them. The other option is to build the enclosure a size that wouldn't require you to cut the tile. Just make sure you can remove the tile for cleaning.

You can also buy 1"x1" sheets, cut them to the size you need then grout them to make them smooth and solid.

that is going to be heavy. but if you use nice restaurant grade tile and seal the grout you can wash it like the kitchen floor. that seal is toxic, though, you will have to wait a while until fully cured and then some to release any CFC's. sometimes CFC's and other toxins can continue to emit for years(like cheap paint) even if you can't smell it so research any products before using.also check high temp use for the product. i just put slate tiles down on the floor and remove them when i change substrate and clean.easy.

If you use porcelain tile, you don't have to seal it. It is heavy but we never move Oki's enclosure. We hand clean it where it is.
