Pastel only on half of python

kbbbb Sep 20, 2007 07:40 PM

I purchase a male pastel, het. albino recently.
He seems to only have the pastel coloration on the lower half of his diameter (ventral half), the dorsal half has a normal python coloration.

Why is this the case? Co-dominance? Gene interactions?
Simply the general vairation pastel comes in?

Thanks

Nice looking pastel. Thats how they look when they get older. Is he over 700 grams? My 1100 gram breeder looks just like that except he's het axanthic.

That is a true pastel.

Older animals tend to brown out when they age.

Good luck with your breeding!

Not to rain on your parade... but in all honesty this "industry" is in the business of selling babies. Baby and Juvenile morphs tend to look the best. Their colors are vibrant, clear, and usually display very little brown. As these animals age they do tend to dull some.

You've got a very nice pastel there. Trust me... breed it to a clean, light colored animal and you will be VERY pleased with the results.
