Babies!!!!! 50% Suri albinos!!!!!

RoswellBoa Sep 21, 2007 12:19 AM

I went to check on Myra, my 50/50 Suri and she had her babies

I count 12 babies; 2 albinos, some laddertails, one stillborn and 2 slugs...Momma is really pissed off and still looks fat so there might be more...

More pics to come

The count is now 13 live perfect babies, two stillborn and 2 slugs...

Mom went completely evil on me, striking like crazy.... I had to put her in the cage underneath because she was already crawling over the babies...I didn't want to risk her squishing them...

I got two albinos, one of which is a laddertail, really nice 66% hets and a few laddertails in there too...and one crazy full body/patternless striper

I have no idea what is going on with this one...the two stillborns were striped in exactly the same manner, one het and one albino...I am so happy this one survived...

.....limb here and say by the consistency of that pattern and different head shape and markings that you may have yourself a new genetic mutation!
Now the fun starts! Raise it up and breed it!
Hope it's a male!
CONGRATS!

The striper was a fantastic suprise...I can't wait to get him cleaned up...other than the stripe he is completely patternless...even on his head...

And with this being a first breeding too..I thought they were never going to come....to have so many live babies with a first time female...I can't describe how thrilled I am:D

Ladders!

Really cool laddertail here

And more laddertail...

Very happy for you! Now get him/her cleaned up and take good care of your new surprise! LOL
Have you sexed it yet? I know when I get surprises in the 'goo', I have to sex them immediately! LOL
I have a 50/50 male that is a sibling to your pair.
Congrats again!

The albinos look very good. The striped animal is amzaing and will hopefully prove to be genetic.
Great litter.

Now that:

Now that is an absolutely killer animal! Probably the most exciting creature I have seen born in years! Seriously. UnBOAlievable! I would almost literally kill for that critter. Who do you want dead? Just kidding... Sort of. Kidding.

But seriously. A great creature to have born. The waiting to see if it is genetic will be hard. But watch out. There will be many emails from people trying to take advantage of your good fortune. Trade or cash offers of pathetic proportions trying to get you to part with that critter. But do no such thing. Do not sell it. Do not trade it. Keep it. Raise it. Breed it and hope you make more. Only time will tell if it is genetic and how exactly it might work. Believe me I have run the long race of trying to figure out some of this crazy stuff myself. You must do it.

that could definitely be genetic!
Well, IMO (which means nearly nothing at this point, LOL) since you not only have one, but technically three of those little stripes, I'd imagine that it is genetic and that the trick is just getting the right pairs set up to make grandchildren 'look-alikes' when that time comes!
At the risk of repeating what everyone else says, it is beautiful and definitely one of a kind! Good luck, I'm jealous!

ChrisGilbert Sep 21, 2007 02:03 PM

about it, that stripe HAS to be genetic. The only question is the inheritance type, but I'd put a lot of money down as a bet that it is Recessive!

Leopard Black Eyes!
Super Motley shaped Head!
And let's not forget 4 high contrast, evenly spaced, dense stripes!

Powerhouse morph!

Any pictures of the stillborn Albino one?

Repeat the pairing for sure!

What a KILLER litter, and I would be so excited if I were you. Seing more then 1 of those guys lead me to believe it is genetic. That is one awesome animal that everyone would LOVE to have. Unless of course you are a cross hater, which I personally don't understand. LOL

yes, there is a great place for Keeping locals together, but this is the fun of selective breeding. I guess the same argument could be made of breeding Locals together. You could still pop that out with Straight locals. OK, i'm going nowhere. Back to work!!!!

wetceal Sep 21, 2007 03:13 PM

What a great looking litter of boas! I've always loved the ladder tails on boas and you certainly had several awesome ones in that litter! Not to mention the potential new morph! I hope it proves out for you!

Thanks,
Celia

Gabor Sep 22, 2007 07:28 AM

This puppy sure looks genetic. The interesting part is that the head of this suuuuper stripe looks like super motley head, hmmm. I hope this genetic mutation wont have any problems with staying alive. I cross fingers for that. Please put me on the waiting list.

Take care
