The above link is to a story and video of an "unidentified snake". The original article was posted on the "herp news" forum, and I found the above link with video...I'm not very good with IDing snakes, but at first I thought bull snake, but after looking at pics, I think northern pine snake. Can anyone clearly ID it? I think the story says it was IDed as a boa!

The article initially has a big Boa "panic" to stir up the neighborhood to create "good news" as usual!.....unfortunately, things pertaining to snakes are ALWAYS written like this for "media hype" and almost always, nobody has a clue about what they're saying, or typing!!!LOL

After looking at the footage,.....It is just as the article stated,.......a "Fox Snake"(Elaphe vulpina).

Also, the snake's length was greatly exaggerated as it is most of the time when described by the general public. The snake looked to be 3-1/2 to 4 ft. long, NOT the "HUGE" 7ft. monster that was described!!LOL

As it says, it is a Foxsnake.

What I find so funny about the tape is that people mock southerners as being "rednecks", "hillbillies", and "hicks". This video just proves that hicks know no geographic boundaries.

Although while I watched the tape there were MANY!! stupid typical comments, the girls "classic" comment about the "diamonds" on the back, and it could be poisonous was all too common, wasn't it?.........bet you've NEVER heard that one before!!LOL

That's typical for sure..On the other hand and a complete 180 turn, I had a lady describe "a big fat snake with all kinds of stripes" years ago... When I arrived at her barn I was certainly surprised to find a 4' edb!
