small bromeliads

NateW. Aug 21, 2003 06:39 PM

now that i'm setting up my temporary 10 gallon vert for my imitators i realized how hard it is to find bromelads that won't have to be crammed in and rot because most of it is on the glass. can anyone recomend a really small epiphytic bromeliad that holds water. thanks

Neoregelia "pepper" is a great one if you can find it.

I have neoreglia: fireball, liliputinia, and midget. For my pair of imitators in a vert ten they are growing really good and they hold water and they dont outgrow the tank

You can also use air plants that stay relatively small. They are actually a type of bromeliad.

Air plants--Tillandsias are interesting and decorative. They don't have leaf axils that hold water, though.

Yeah, Neo. Pepper is a great one. I believe black jungle has them in stock right now. Good luck with that.

I don't like to do this on the forums, but I offer some small bromeliads that would work. I have Neoregelia red bird, Vriesea racinae(get's 3-4" max and holds quite a bit of water)and
Neoregelia fireball x punctatissima rubra. All are under 6" and will do great in your tank. I will have a new site up soon with pics and descriptions. The last one is the only one that does not have a pic on the old site.

Ohhh...I didn't see that he was looking for ones that held water. Thanks for the correction.
