I got a Duremils last week from a friend. I'm not sure of age, but he is about 2-2.5' in length. It has not eaten yet, and i know this is fairly common, but I just wanted to see if there is any tricks to entice him. Thanks, Jeff

Jeff,
...Try a live pinky rat and if that does not work try a live fuzzy rat. Some Dumerils like rats better than mice.
Good luck,
Jeff

Young Dumerils are notorious for being picky eaters. Mine was picky for almost a year before she settled down and got on a regular feeding schedule. After that she ate like a pig.
So are you handling the Dumerils? You should try to leave it alone as much as possible until it eats. Even if it doesn't eat for a month, keep handling down to a minimum, and keep the cage out of high-traffic areas. Usually when Dumerils won't eat it's because they're not comfortable in their environment yet. So let it settle in for another week or two and then try feeding it. Also, make sure the cage isn't in an area where the cat or dog can constantly stare at the snake, that'll make it more nervous.
Good Luck,

Ah Ha!! Well he finally ate, but there is one thing the poster above me said that I must change. Yeah, the cat is always staring in there!!! I'll keep the door shut from now on. Since he ate now, can I expect a normal feeding schedule?
I fed him with the lights off, he was foraging and I figured it would be a good time to feed.
