not eating question

myotismn Sep 22, 2007 12:18 PM

I bought three baby(then) 06 thayeri last fall. All were started on f/t and eating great. Early this summer one stopped eating. I tried several things (braining, live, wiggling with a forceps), but it has not eaten since up until two weeks ago when I tried putting a live pinkie in a paper bag with her. I also added a piece of shed beardie skin in the bag. She finally ate. I tried a f/t again this week which she refused, so I suppose I will try the same thing that finally worked last week. Does anyone have any ideas on what may have caused her to stop eating, and if this turns into the only way I can make her eat any suggestions on breaking her of that habit. All three are kept in small separate cages near each other in similar heat and light conditions. The other two eat great and now are now much bigger. I would appreciate any suggestions.

i dont know why she isnt feeding she could just be super picky, but i have had good results with baby corns that didnt want frozen i give them a few live meals to get there feeding wheels in motion and then give them a frozen and they usually dont care and eat it, i dont know if this helps, but i hope it does

How warm are you keeping them? sometimes if they are to hot or to cold you can get feeding problems. How long did she go without eating the first time?

It could be the time of year too...with the daylight starting to shorten. I know I can tell in the morning and evenings so I imagine your snake will really notice it.
My 1 year 4 month old hasn't eaten in a month either and I'm thinking that it is the lighting as I only use undertank heating. I'm just added a light source to help "regulate" his lighting. You might look into that also.
