BrokenStreetlite Sep 22, 2007 07:49 PM

Don't usually post or browse this forum, so I don't know if this is any news but..

It's supposedly 9 foot 1 inches and 97 lbs. found in Enid, Oklahoma. What's the record on them anyways?

Blake,
WHERE in Northern Texas was that found?
That picture has been around for years, I saw in in Florida (at a herp dealership) and in Arkansas (at a meat packing plant) and the pic said it was found/discovered in those states. It ( the picture) sorta looks like an Eastern to me, with it's heavy body, etc).
Where is your information?

Thanks,
Randal Berry

I've had that image forwarded to me so many times that I have lost count....one story claims it came from the Turkey Creek Gas Plant up in the Texas Panhandle, another claims it is from a gas plant in South Texas near Encinal, while another claims that it came from near Poteet in the San Antonio, Texas...they even ran the picture in a small town newspaper down there a few years ago.....and I think there were another few locations that it was supposed to be from...I just can't remember all of them.

After a while you would think that people would stop passing that urban legend around.

When you get bored sometime, find a 4 foot aluminum pole, attach 97 pounds to the end and try to hold it the way this guy is.

Wait a minute - So this picture's a fake?!?!? I just Paypaled the guy that E-mailed it to me 500 bucks for this snake - he said it was a rare "Crooked-neck-plays-dead-like-a-hognose-nine-foot-northern-diamondback-rattlesnake." Said it was real docile and calm. Did I get taken?
Anxious,

This snake was found and killed in Amarillo. I spent some time in the town and recognise the buildings in the background (although i cant remember what they are) I read an article on a hunting "BLOG" stating the snake was just over 6' and they confirmed that it was killed in amarillo. Its such a shame that was an amazing atrox.
