Looking for a Melanistic

blazeyoungblood Aug 21, 2003 07:57 PM

I am looking for a page or anyone who is selling melanistic leos; preferably all black. If anyone has any good sites or knows where I may be able to find one, please let me know, thanks.

There is no such thing as a true melanistic leo and I don't think anyone has produced an all black one yet either. You will be hard pressed to find a dark leo (I don't mean just a regular dark leo but one that is on the verge of being solid brown or black) as some breeders are trying to produce a black one and are withholding the darkest leos but with a lot of searching or a lot of luck you can probably find one with gray and brown coloring and just a hint of beige. If you see a solid brown or black leo chances are it is just a midnight blizzard and his colors will lighten up with age.

I've been working on this project a little. No luck this year - this is as close as I can come. I'm looking for a better male to pair up with these females, but alas - no such luck.

This year - with a darker male - I produced approximately 1 million normal babies - not one dark.

The darkest one's I ever produced were from a Ron Tremper albino yellow male.

Go figure . . . .
