Egg ?'s

howitser Sep 23, 2007 10:45 AM

I've got my first couple of eggs in the incubator, just passed the early hatching date. They've been kept about 86 degrees, 70% humidity in the hovabator. Just yesterday they showed signs of collapsing/depressing inwards. Just wondering if this is normal, or did something happen that they're no longer viable. I added a little water to the vermiculite they're in, but no change. They've seemed pretty "full" up to now, hope they're not lost!

Thanks for any info!

Howie

Denting is normal just prior to hacthing. Your eggs are still fine and I'd suggest making sure the hatchling cage(s) are ready. Congrats..

Thanks for the info! Got their cage all ready, only 2 eggs so don't need anything too huge. I'm definitely looking forward to my first hatch!

Thanks again,

Howie

If they still haven't hatched in a day or 2, you can candle them and see if they are red or yellow. If they are red, they are still alive. Yellow=dead. If you have a tiny flashlight, you can do this without moving them, just turn off the lights and put the flashlight right up against the side. The color should be pretty obvious.
