bug eyes in albino yellows?

fliptop Sep 23, 2007 11:03 AM

Hey, ratfolk,

I got an albino yellow that has buggy eyes--perhaps not as pronounced as the leucistic Texas rats, but there's a definite difference in size when compared to the eighteen hatchlings I've got on hand (see photos below).

Has anyone heard of this bug-eyed trait in yellows? I was curious to see if the other line of amel was allelic to my WC male, but I don't want to breed into these eyes.

Thanks!

I Haven't heard of it in yellows BUT.... do us ALL a favor and don't breed it! PLEASE because I personally don't want 50% of the yellow rats getting it too

I bought a pair of albino yellows in 1997 at the Dixie Reptile Show in Birmingham and the male was extremely bug eyed. Unfortunately I don't have any pics. I haven't seen any real bad ones since then but that doesn't mean they aren't out there.
