Rankin's or Inland? How do I tell?

reptisillious Sep 23, 2007 03:36 PM

I just bought a Dragon that I was told was a Rankins, I have a few years experience with regular Inland Dragons. What are some easy ways to tell the difference? It appears smaller, but that could be age? the pattern appear differnt than most of the Dragons I've dealt with. Any help would be appreciated.

Best,
Steve

Thanx BDlvr, that was really helpful. Now it just opened more questions about other dragons I'd been looking at? Know anything about P Nullabor? I think one of my Males and definately one of my Females could be. She has 5 rows of spikes and the big head with the stripes, almost like a tiger morph. Thanx again.

I highly doubt it. I have never seen any confirmed specimens in the US. The only ones really that are around are the Lawson's, Inland and Coastal. If you had a nullabar it would be very rare and you would know it since you'd have to pay a lot to have one. I've never even heard of one in a zoo here or in Europe. Perhaps others have though.

I kinda felt the same way, I had seen some before in Danmark. It does have numerous chracteristics. I'll have to ask some of the professors that I do my Reptile and Amphibian surveys with. She definately isn't a normal inland. It has like 6-7 rows of spikes along the sides, the head shape and the dark purple, fuchsia bands or bars acrossed the body all the way to the tail. It could also be some crazy cross-breed? O well. Thanks

Best,
Steve
