Female Not eating

ronald_durst Sep 23, 2007 08:39 PM

My 3 or 4 yr old female ball hasnt eaten in about a month. Ive tried rats and mice. Live and pre killed. Up until now ive never had any problems with her eating. Im monitoring temps. Shes got water and a place to hide. Im not breeding her? Is this behavior normal for her age? Maybe ready to breed or something like that? Any ideas would be great. Thanks

2 of my females have gone off feed already (I haven't started dropping temps yet)...it's probably just a normal fast. I wouldn't worry too much as long as she doesn't start losing weight.

I have the same problem....Now mine is probably from being relocated...I bought her about two weeks ago at the Anaheim NARBC show...I am a little concerned for her...so I move the heat source to give her a little more heat...but all I can do is wait and see what happens...I just hope it's nothing major

It is normal for balls in general to go off feed. IF you just got her I would just leave her be, no handling. Offer what you were told she would eat in about two weeks. She needs time to get ajusted and offering all kinds of different foods will only stress her more.

My guess is that breeding season is right around the corner. One of my big females went off feed 2 weeks ago. Even though they are in captivity they know what time of the year it is.

This summer the weather has been very up ans down, I live in pa and it would go from hot to cool. When the weather cooled down they stop eating when the weather went up they ate. So I feed On the warmer days. There temps stay the same but I guess they feel the difference anyway.

Not much time to bulk up the gals this year. Her hour glass figure does nothing for my breeding plans.

Good luck.
