thinking of adopting a rhino - need info

beardiedragon Aug 21, 2003 08:17 PM

a local pet shop has a rhino ig on consignment. the owner can't take care of it anymore. it is just over 2 foot long and seems healthy. he is very friendly. every time i walk over to the cage he is in he stands up and walks over to the door. when I open the door, he immediatly comes out on his own and climbs up on my shoulder. I can get him for $250. I plan to start him in a 3 or 4 foot vision cage indoors and hopefully get him into an outdoor enclosure by next spring. I live in South Florida.

any thoughts? where can I get more info?

If you have not already, read the article on cyclura.com by David Blair.

If you can build the outdoor cage now, it would be better. Problem with a small indoor cage is that you, are going to be spending alot of time keeping it clean. Build a big outdoor cage, and nature takes care of the cleaning for you.
Good luck.
