Candy Cane boa....

PBM Sep 23, 2007 09:12 PM

Hey Bill, here is the pic from one of the old Vivarium magazines. On the next page was an ad from Ron St. Pierre advertising his motleys...pretty old issue for sure! Hope this is what everyone was looking for. Take care

Sorry, with scanning the image which is approximately 1" x 1" out of an old magazine and blowing it up, the quality isn't that great but everyone should be able to get a good idea of what is or isn't comparable with the other striped boas. Take care

This is/was an animal owned by Brian Sharp, I should have mentioned that originally.

Thanks for posting that up, I was wondering what this candy cane boa looked like. Very cool looking snake. Was Brian ever able to breed it?

I don't think so, but you'd really have to get any detailed info from Brian. I just happened to remember seeing the animal years ago in the Vivarium magazines, and I've kept every issue I ever had. It was a great magazine. I asked Brian about it years ago, but I don't really remember what he had to say about the project at that time. It was definitely an amazing looking boa, especially at that time.

Thanks for taking the time to find and post this picture. I am sure many of the newer boa enthusiasts have never seen that boa. Since I never saw this one or the new striped animals in person I am not sure how similar they are. It looks from the picture like the candy cane may also have an unusual head.
Thanks again.
Bill

Looks like I've got the reincarnation, LOL...I can definitely see the similiarity...the less defined stripes seem to be the only significant difference...though that may be from the image quality...thanks for posting this candycane boa!

Does anyone know if this Candycane boa is still out there somewhere?

Interesting. So I am thinking if that is a guyana and the boa below was product of a suri cross, the fully striped genetics seen here are coming from the BCc side of things?
Very neat looking boa.
