Baby Thayeri regurgitates

wvherp Sep 24, 2007 08:33 AM

I just got a little female MSP Thayeri on the 15th. She ate on the 17th. When one of my other babies refused a pinky on the 20th, I gave the Thayeri the pinky and she ate it. Yesterday I found the partly undigested pinky in her cage. Did I simply overfeed, or could there be something else? I also need to check on the heating for her as well. When should I reintroduce food to her? Give her a week or so? Thanks for any help.

You might want to try dusting the next pinkie with some Nutraback. It helps replenish the digestive system with good bacteria needed for digestion.

Alan, that is a gorgeous king! I say give her a week to build up her stomach acids and try a really small pink.

Can I get this at pet stores or online?

I bought some of it at the recent NARBC Show here in Anaheim after hearing about the stuff from several friends that have used it and had great results. I bought mine from Bill Love for $12 a bottle but someone else at the show bought some from another vendor for $8. It's called Nutribac. Check some online reptile suppliers like Big Apple, LLL Reptile, or some others.

you might also try feeding only a 1/2 of a pink at a time. Most thayeri start out life fairly small and a whole pink is often to big. Nutri=Bac you can get from Stephen Fowler online or by phone.

Thanks Russ. When you say half a pink, do you give just the head or cut it right down the middle? Will they take either end?

I cut the pink in half so that you have a head end and hind end. The stomach contents are showing. Works pretty well and I actually believe the scent motivates them to feed.
