Bp Expelling Liquid

SydBarrett Sep 24, 2007 09:50 AM

greetings, I have an 06 female ball python that expelled what i think is an unusual amount of liquid with its waste. This is my first BP so im not sure if this is normal but I have never seen anything like it with my king. To give an idea it covered more than half of the ten gallon I keep her in and had a very foul odor that was quite hard to get rid of.

That is just liquid urine most likely. It generally somes out with the solid urates. You are right about the smell, just wait until it happens outside of the enclosure, it takes a lot to get that stuff out and it really really smells!

Thank you, what had me concerned was the amount but thinking about it she is a lot fatter than my king and can probably hold more liquid

Yeah, a well hydrated ball can expel a suprising amount of liquid. The few times my female ball has expelled urine/urates outside her tub, it was about as much as one of the cats. (We no longer have the cat that used to pee on laundry :P)

If that is an up to date picture please increase the prey size of your Ball Python's meals. She is far too underweight.

I just purchased this snake 3 days ago and I am going to feed her a small rat here in about 5 minutes
