A couple or weeks ago my sisters boyfriend helped me feed my snake. I told hinm to put the snake in a seperate box before he fed him but he forgot and fed him in the cage (something I was told not to do from the beginning). When I tried to pick him up yesterday he hissed at me, and again today. Is this a result of the messed up feeding or could something else be wrong? How can I calm him down?

Is your snake in shed?
Feeding in it's cage is fine. I do that with all of mine. As long as you are not only opening the cage for feeding and never take it out or change the water, etc. then you will be fine.
Maybe you just startled it. One feeding did not cause this.

I usually take him out, that has never been a problem, and I keep the water filled and the cage pretty clean. and his belly is not pink and he just shed about a month or two ago. I am just worried becuase I have never really had a problem handling him. Thanks for the quick response

I feed all of mine in their enclosures also. I would suggest using a snake hook to get him out, then gently transfer him from the hook to your hand. A lot of times they are just stressed and feel cornered by your hand coming at them. Hope this helps.

i always feed in cage, its not that bad. its just they think your food sometimes.

hissing isnt a big deal, strike position is when you back off
