Still need help with my Southern

bladerunner8u Sep 25, 2007 08:24 AM

My 4 year old male is still regurgitate his food. I had a post 9/11 asking about parasites and since took him by my Vet. and I gave him 2 doses of Panacur. He still wants food but it sits in him for 48 hours and then regurgitate it. I force feed him some egg mixed with vitamins 2 times and he passed that ok both times, so i figure try another toad in which he jumped on it but after 48 hours regurgitate it. I'm starting to think obstruction? If he has a obstruction why is he passing the egg? I have had him all 4 years and he has been perfect eating toads with this being the first problem? Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

it is 50 mg kilogram of body weight. have you given your snakes meds before

bladerunner8u Sep 25, 2007 06:25 PM

Yes twice i gave him the panacur in a syringe with a tube so i could reach his stomach and 2 times a egg mixture

charleshanklin Sep 25, 2007 08:13 PM

these tabs are a little tricky. i cut off a percentage of the tab i thought was correct for a single dose. then i would load a syringe with the amount of water i am going to use to dillute the piece because these pills don't disolve completely. then i simply mix the water from the syringe and the piece of tab in a shot glass suck it up and you are ready to give it to the snake. be careful not to use too much though it will not be good for your snake.

charleshanklin Sep 25, 2007 08:37 PM

bladerunner8u Sep 25, 2007 09:49 PM

when should i try solid food...THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!

kfisher29 Sep 25, 2007 10:52 PM

I would wait at least 3-4 weeks before you offer anything solid and feed something small! It takes time for the snakes throat to heal from regurging. Kevin

bladerunner8u Sep 26, 2007 08:24 AM

...if i wait that long he will be in his no eat stage....for the last 4 years he stops eating from nov. till march.........should i keep force feeding him egg every 3 days????

charleshanklin Sep 26, 2007 09:27 AM

you can try to feed after your done dosing there shouldn't be a problem

bladerunner8u Sep 26, 2007 10:24 AM
