Health question...

Adriane Sep 25, 2007 10:26 AM

Well, for starters - I have five snakes. I have two ferrets. My ferrets recently became infested with fleas (who knows how, as growing up I had cats and dogs constantly and never had this issue)... Anyhow. I wanted to find out what flea medication would be safe to use around the snakes - or if they wouldn't be affected at all. I am concerned that the vapors from a "flea bomb" would be harmful to my snakes.. I attempted to consult a vet but he wouldn't answer me -- even though he has seen both my ferrets and a few of my snakes in the past. Now to be more specific, the flea stuff I would be using on the ferrets directly would contain Pyrethrins which is supposedly very mild -- I also found a completely natural flea spray that only contained different flower and herb oils... just looking for some feedback as I couldn't find anything pertaining to this through research online. And a lot of you guys are experts! Please let me know any thoughts or opinions you have on the matter.

Thanks!
Adriane

I used Advantage and/or the other brand (just forgot it at the moment) on bunnies with great success, and it doesn't poison the room. I just used the size made for cats. Stops the fleas from reproducing successfully. Ask your vet if that would work on a ferret. You need to apply it where the ferret couldn't lick it off, like just behind his head.

as long as you dont rub the ferrets on the snakes im sure it wont be an issue.

wash your hands after the ferrets.

my parents use frontline on our cats and my snakes are fine
