She finally arrived this morning! So exciting
She was rather lively even before I opened up her deli cup. Got that first snake bite out of the way while she was at it. Didn't even feel it, just like they say

Got her from South Mountain Reptiles. Actualy I do have one question I was going to email Don about tonight. When should I feed her first? I understand you want to give them time to settle in before feeding.
Few more pics
About a week seems to work the best for all of my snakes. Don is a great guy to work with!

Good person to buy from.
I fed my purchases from Don the day after they arrived - and they ate just fine. One (Reverse Okeetee) hasn't eaten since, one (Charcoal) has eaten twice and is now in blue, one (Caramel) has eaten thrice.

Nice little dude ya got there!........if you become as involved as some of us on the forum, you can look forward to getting "ZAPPED" quite often!LOL.......but seriously, it wasn't nowhere NEAR as bad as you pictured it in your mind, was it?
I don't even notice bites anymore unless they are from fairly big snakes.......I did take notice though, when a 14 ft. Python grabbed my entire hand and went to eat me!!..YEOOOOUUCH!!!

Man I'm going to have a hard time going to sleep tonight. I know immediately after I wake up I'm going to rush down here and check on her
Gunna order a temp gun and maybe a good thermostat tomorrow. Untill I get it I have one of those cheap round thermometers laying on the substrate instead of stuck to the glass. Will that give a good enough reading? Substrate is paper towels for now, for ease of observation.
I use a BAH-1000 from Big Apple Herp (same as sold by LLL as Alife 1000) for my one corn still in a tank. I have the bulb in the substrate at about the middle point of the UTH.
I also have a digital thermometer that records high and low - and it seems to vary from 78 to 88 during any given 2 hour period.
I also have a Helix DBS 1000 for my rack setup (uses Flexwatt) - and it keeps the temperature spot on, with maybe only a 2 degree variance all day. In fact, I'm considering buying a night drop cable just to give them a small drop at night (there is one with the BAH 1000 controlled tank - it seems ambient air affects its thermostat readings)
The more expensive proportional thermostats (like the Helix DBS 1000) keep much more precise temperature control and may extend the life of the heating element, but are worth it IMHO.
There should be a slight gap between the UTH and tank bottom, especially with glass tank bottoms. This reduces the chance of burning the animal if something goes wrong with your heat control and the heat source gets too hot. Even with a thermostat, check temp daily to make sure it is working within parameters.
What I'm starting to do now is put the thermostat directly on the heat source - but measure temp inside the tank with a digital thermometer lead in the middle of the "hot spot". Works quite well.

what you have is fine now, corns are very forgiving with temperature. anywhere between 70 and 90 and they will survive (but 75-80 is best}. no need to buy an expensive temp gun but a thermo stat from big apple herp will work good.
i know the feeling everyone does it with the first snake, i still do it with my new additions
