Rack Question ? ? ?

uncherp Sep 25, 2007 02:40 PM

I just recieved a two level 4 20qt. tub rack from PVC Cages.com, and before i begin soldering holes in my 20qt tubs. I was curious if anyone with arboreal rack experience (not hypothetical knowledge...I have more than enough of that myself), has any advice on hole placement for an optimum amount of air exchange, while allowing a good 24 hour humidity/drying cycle. Also, the thermostat in the apartment is set at 75, and thanks to it being extremely hot this year, the ac has drained the inside air of virtually all relative humidity I think...

I just want to be able to shorten the trial and error period of tinkering with this rack if possible. I know I could put some holes in and cover them if necessary, but I thought I would pose this question before hand to save me the trouble and headache.

I put a total of 4 holes in front and 4 holes in the back. Two holes in the top 1/4 and 2 holes in the bottom 1/4......about 1/4 in from the sides. Experiment with fewer holes at first and this should tell you if you need more. With hatchlings, you want about 20-24 hours of humidity. They require a bit more than adults.

Good luck.
