Good information.

Last spring I was using a terrarium with an old style ESU Reptile Combination hood over it. This hood has standard long fluorescent tubes and uncandescent sockets mounted horizonally. As temps. warmed I replaced one of the incandescent bulbs with a household compact fluorescent (not UVB) in the hopes of keeping the enclosure bright without as much heat. Within a few days the dragon in the enclosure began to keep his eyes closed in increasing amounts. I immediately removed the bulb.

With this observation (although a very limited sample) I'm not sure if it's just a UVB problem. I won't use any type of compact fluorescent in any dragon set up now.

I noticed the exact same thing. I bought a new Exo-Terra 26 watt Repti-Glo compact flourescent light with 10.0 UVB. Almost immediately, the two juvenile beardies in the enclosure started keeping their eyes closed all the time. A vet check-up and fecal found nothing wrong. I removed the light and they returned to normal in a short time, but then started brumating. Hopefully they will be ok when they wake up.

Weird... I thought it was just a defect with that one particular bulb. I had no idea others were experiencing the same problem with the compact lights.
