Freeze Dried Crickets

GLZ Sep 26, 2007 06:05 PM

Anyone try these or use these regularly? Are they are good?

I hate having to stock pile live crickets and I cant stand having to go to the pet store all the time.

I tried the ZooMed "can o crickets" and the Beardies like them, but these are pretty expensive and I am not for storing left over crickets in the fridge.

These Freeze Dried crickets im told dont have to be stored in a fridge, that they stay good for a long time, and I also heard they hold in most if not all of there nutritional value.

Remember though that moisture in their food is just as important as nutrition. I used to take freeze dried food camping. It will outlive you and I because there is no moisture content. Live crickets are about 75% water.

Freeze dried crickets are no good except for maybe an occaisonal treat. If you are sick of feeding crickets, try other live insect food such as silkworms, hornworms, phoenix worms, various species of roaches.

Remember that once dragons are over a year old, they do not need alot of insect food. A meal of insects a couple times a week or a few every day, is all they need. The only time an adult bearded dragon should get regular servings of insects is egg laying females. OR recovering from illness.
