Cage Plans ok?

HerpLover95 Sep 26, 2007 08:05 PM

Well I spent a couple of minutes on Paint tonight and this is what I came up with. I hope you Can understand it, the little white oval is a calcium dish, and the tan object next to the basking platform is a hide that will go under it. I also will have a UTH hooked up with a rehostat under that.

Also, during the winter months, is it ok to cover some of the top to trap some heat in there to warm up the air?
Thank you!

As I turned around I smelled a
horrible "dirty body" smell, and there standing behind me were two poor homeless men. As I looked down at the short gentleman, close to me, he was "smiling". His beautiful sky blue eyes were full of God's Light as he searched for acceptance. He said, "Good day" as he counted the few coins he had been clutching. The young lady at the counter asked him what they wanted. He said, "Coffee is all Miss" because that was all they could afford. (If they wanted to sit in the restaurant and warm up, they had to buy something. He just wanted to be warm).

It looks ok I guess. Why do you have a basking bridge which, if I'm reading it right, is propped up on one side with a rock? If you are using a UTH, the heat will be on the floor, not up in the air. I like to put a piece of slate right over the UTH. The rock will heat up nicely, and is good for belly heat. As far as covering the tank, leos will generally do fine with a slight heat drop during the winter. Do some more reading/research on "brumating or brumation"

Im sorry that I didnt make that clear enough. The basking bridge is something you can buy at petco, I wasn't going to use it for basking, but I think that's what it's called. It's not held up by a rock. Also, Im going to have a UV light for just a natural look, and is it ok if I use a 30 or so watt bulb just to heat the air up on the warm side? Also, I'v never realy liked brumating any of my animals. I can tell you excactly how to brumate my corn snakes, but I just dont trust myself when it comes to stuff like that.

Personally, I don't think leos need UV, but it prob won't hurt either. It won't make any difference as long as your temps are OK with the added light. Like I said, a small temp drop of a few degrees in the winter months is perfectly ok. You should be able to cover half the top and still have adequate circulation.
