my beardie is my first. i got him about a year ago as a full grown adult male beardie from a breeder. well about a month or more ago i noticed he had the runs. I took him into the vet for a check up and the vet did a stool sample. the stool sample showed that he had parasites in his poop. The vet put him on 2 different medicine. the first medicine was to be stored at room temp. i'm not sure what the name of the medicine was but the second medicine he gave me to give to my beardie was AMOXICILLION. The guy who i bought my lizard from thought it was strange that the vet prescribed my lizard an antibiotic in the first place...another guy (another breeder) even told me that amoxicillion is TOXIC for lizards and cause kidney/liver damage. Is this true? I gave him his medicine like i was told to..for 5 days. Now it seems that he has actully gotten WORSE. now he won't eat and he keeps his head tilted back or up all of the time ,(even sleeps like that), and this i noticed just in the last couple of days. did his medicine actully hurt him instead of help him? if anybody has ANY information reagarding what my lizard might be sick with or whats wrong with him i would really appreciate the input. like i said, he's my first beardie and i don't know much about them getting sick. Also if anybody knows anything about antibiotics or Amoxicillion being harmful to lizards i would like to know. i'm just worried sick about my poor lizard. thanks for the help...
