just wondering why no one responded to my last post...does no one know the answer or did it get buried too quickly?? I've noticed that if a post gets bumped down about half way down the page, it usually won't get any responses anymore, and with a forum as talkative as this one, I guess some posts can easily get overlooked. But I am very curious to know what came of the snakes. let me know if you even remember what I am talking about!

Well, Thanks on the Calico project, will be starting my contributions this fall/winter.

As for the snakes that were losing color/turning white, I don't ]remember any that severe. Jeff has Santaremo that has gone through a substantial color change as do some others but nothing turning white?? As I'm typing this repoly, I'm remembering it, kind of looked like it was always in shed, wasn't it shedding quite often as well? Still, I don't know what ever happened to it.

lots.lots.lots feeder mice and rats

did a little searching and finally found it in the archives...the subject line reads "white skin in rainbow boa" posted by twomonsters.

The replies ended without any explination being determined, and as far as I know it hasn't been mentioned since. If you look up that post, there are two pics of the BRBs that Dave posted for twomonsters. Very different from the calico, but seeing that pic reminded me of this unsolved mystery!

It is impossible for us to have any sort of intelligent opinion on what was going on with that snake without seeing PICS. We do not know if the snake was having health problems or if it was going through some sort of ontogenetic color change. An ontogenetic color change would be especially interesting. On the other hand....as I have said many times before 99% of health problems in captive snakes are caused by mistakes in husbandry. Humidity or temperature or Ph too high or too low can cause skin problems.

go to archives and search in 2007 archives for "white skin in rainbow boa" that will bring up the post with all links including the one showing the pics (I don't know why the link to the second post by Dave does not show all replies, but one by Dave has the pics) It's very strange looking, and I've never seen it before in any snakes. I'm very curious as to whether they got "better", or died from whatever it was that caused it. I also wonder if it continued and if they became solid white, as the second pic shows one almost to that point!
