doors of enclosure

fantasyxbabygurl Sep 28, 2007 10:18 PM

i also ran across this picture on this site and it looks eaxactly as i envisioned my design except for the obvious species difference. the top would be a boa enclosure and the bottom corn snake

any way i was tryig to figure out how i could have plexiglass look nice with out a frame i want it to be two seperate doors that divide right down the middle and both open outward just like a wardrobe for instance

these glass doors look nice but i cant see how they are secured, it almost looks like the magnetic design mae for glass fronted entertainment centers but id definatly need to secure my enclosures to the escape-proof limit.

Any ideas that may help me?

That picture looks like sliding glass doors that overlap a bit. Many people use them in enclosures and they look nice. You can buy track and place the glass inside to make them. Many tanks for sale have this type of setup.

I would steer away from the plexi though because it will most likely warp especially when exposed to heat. I know it's cheaper and lighter than glass but it may disappoint you in time.

At any rate good luck with the enclosure.

I like your ideas on the furniture and when done right can be an impressive cage.
Heres another link to check out i'm in the process of building a cage out of www.industrialerectorset.com thats gonna be 4'w x 2'd x 6't. I've got my cutlist and all I need is the plastic and its about a days work with the right tools. Listen to Chris and The Hillbilly if you plan to build it right they know all the stuff to work with. have you looked at door blanks?
Thats enough for now

get the kona Chris

Your vote for the Kona is noted, LOL.

To the OP, I think that using a roller based track Like Nate posted is a good idea. Rockler is a bit expensive. I found a track on Amazon that is cheaper and supposedly of slightly higher quality. I'll try to figure out which Amazon store I used.

I do believe that sliding doors are the easiest and more secure (for snakes) way to get the look you want.

Those are nice looking cages, do you have a link to the site where you found them? Looks to be a European site?
