Off topic question

tim21087 Sep 29, 2007 11:12 PM

Well I know I'm off topic a lot but this is the best forum I've ever been on in terms of response times and quality of responses. I would post this in the JCP forum but no one there has even answered my last post and that was on Tuesday

I just got my baby JCP on Friday. It's in its new cage and I'm going to give it until this Friday before I feed it then give it two days after that to digest. I have only held him at the store where i got him and a bit putting him in his cage after getting him home. He is very feisty and will continue to bite and strike at anything even after it is off the ground and being held. Even while I am holding him he will just keep striking at anything that moves and sometimes even just at the air. My question for anyone who has any JCP experience is how long does it take a baby JCP to calm down? I know it'll depend on the snake and the amount of handling but I just want a general time frame. After this initial time period where I'm going to let him get accustomed to his new home I'm going to handle him every day. I'm just curious as to how long before I can hope to not get bit 1000 times in 3 seconds.

Thank you,

Tim

Tim,
...Some of my baby JCPs needed to bite and chew and constrict for awhile before they finally got the message that biting and striking would not make me go away and that I was too big to eat. I had most of mine tamed and fairly calm within two weeks. A few of them do remain springy without biting or striking for their first year.
