Question about slugs?

melindaste Sep 30, 2007 01:00 PM

I recently got a adult pair of eastern Boxies. I was getting a snake from someone that left it to die, when going to get the snake There were these turtles, I believe that they are wild caughts I can not be sure they guy said his buddy had them a few years. So far all they will eat are worms I give them fruit greens and they push it to the side, a few times I have seen them eat the greens by accident. I read on a few sites that they can eat slugs, I have a ton of slugs, how many should be offered and how often. I will collect them up for the future feedings if so.

Slugs should be fine for them as long as they've not been exposed to any pesticides. Free food!!

I like to vary the foods as much as I can. I have to anyway because they don't want to eat the same food day in day out. I keep a wide variety of bugs around here so that when everyone is hungry they'll all find something they want.
Mine don't care much for veggies but they'll eat a wide variety of berries & some fruit.

I tried a few and they ate them right up. I collected a whole bunch and now have slugs set up so I can feed the turtles lol makes me laugh what I have around here that is to feed other things.
Thank you.

I just got my three toe back tonight. She used to eat slugs and I assume still would, but they are not easy to find in a Chicago apartment! Worms and crickets have always been the mainstays of her diet, with raw chicken, beef, and the occasional mealworm and redworm, plus all kinds of fruit, occasional veggies, and hard boiled egg. She's definitely more carnivorous as three toes usually are.
