Applegate Phase San Diego Gophers

I just got my first pair of pits. I have several questions about these aniamls. I have been breeding snakes for about 10 yrs. and have been very successful w/ many species. I want to make sure I know all I need to about these to be successful.

1. How many eggs do they lay?
2. Do I have to hibernate them in the winter if yes at what temp. and how long?
3. What temp. and for how long do the eggs need to incubate?
4. Are they like other American colubrids and breed in the spring?
5. Lastly, for the care of the snakes. I have them in a drwer system that houses some of my collection. There are about 100 animals in the rack and all breed and are in great condition in the system and I hope the gophers will be fine too. The temps. are around 77 - 80 degrees at night and are up to maybe 82 in the day. I don't use any heating element as I am in soth Florida and I haven't had the need w/ any of my animals except some of the tropical boids. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks

Sounds like your on the right track with temps and housing. They lay about 8 to 12 eggs average. Check out our web site for articles on this very subject.
