I'm thinking it wouldn't be good to put a nile and a water monitor (both foot and a half) in a 8L x 6H x 5w enclosure. But the question came to mind figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.

They may, and a they may not get along but you need to be prepared if they dont get along to house them separate, so just house them separate to start with.
I would definately think this is not a good idea. And just so you know, one importer lost an entire lot of young water monitors that were housed with a lot of young niles. The niles past on some infection that the waters had no resistance to. If you want their name you can e-mail me.
