I live in Colorado and went to the Elk Fest in Estes Park. It is so cool to see these beautiful creatures up close. I have never seen or heard the males calling for the females. They were all over town, specially in the golf course. Enjoy the pictures.

That is awesome, one of the reasons Colorado is one of the few other States I would live in.

Best,
Vinny

Hi Tom,

I think those pics are very cool. We had elk in this area of NC at one time, but they are long gone.

Take care,

Hi Joe,

That is why I love living here in Colorado, there is so much to see. They were so close that you could reach out and touch them. I saw a guy touch one of the females and she attempted to head but him.

Take care
Tom

Wow, looking at those is making me hungry. I'm glad deer season starts in Va. next week. O'ya I wouldn't feed them that is one way CWD(chronic wasting disease) is spred.
Thanks for sharing,

GREAT pix, tom. Deer are overpopulated in my area of kentucky so i had two yearlings walking past my back window, five or ten feet away, while i watched tv last night, and they overnight in my 50 x 50 backyard many nights. I thought that was impressive. But your pix, wow. Of course if the critters here were THAT big i'd be reluctant to walk the streets at night. Thanks for sharing.
