Black Bloods?????

DNReptiles Sep 30, 2007 09:50 PM

So I have a 4' vision cage that is coloecting dust so i thought a black blood would go really well in it. My question is are black bloods the smallest of the blood pythons? If not what is? I am also trying to pick up a female. Would a 4' vision be enough room?

Thanks in advance.

From my understanding, correct me someone if I'm wrong, the Borneo python, borneo short tail python, is the smallest of the three pythons mostly associated with "bloods". Available morphs, without taking a second mortgage, are marbled/speckled and striped. The Barkers, Selective Origins, or Signoretti would be the people to talk to about these.

A 4' vision really should be enough for any blood/stp. So your options are open as far as that goes.

Here is a link to the Barker's page of Caresheets. There's one for Borneo's and Bloods. http://www.vpi.com/publications

Hope that helps,

The 4ft vision is more than enough for adults and depending on the size of the python almost too much. Python curtus are the smallest of the three short-tailed species, but I have seem some good sized females at 5'. I am sure there are some out there that are bigger. Unless you plan on getting a big adult right away, the cage is too big. My female borneos are in 3ft cages and I have a large 6ft Sarawak Borneo that is in a four foot vision. She hides in one side more often and doesn't really utilize the floor space.

I should clarified that Python curtus are the black bloods and Borneos are Python breitensteini. Borneos are bigger on average than black bloods.
