Crossing fingers

SoLA Oct 01, 2007 03:01 AM

I am really hoping to get some nice babies from this pair soon. I noticed her swelling around 7-22-07. She also went off feed for a while around that time, but before the swelling, I had actually not offered her food for almost 3 weeks because of a move. She ate on 8-15-07 (36-62g rat), and since then, has eaten 3 rats roughly the same size. She is certainly staying large, and she has not passed a lot of feces for the amount she has eaten. Tonight, she was offered a smaller mouse, but she would only coil it and leave it without eating.

She is certainly thermoregulating, and I hope she will drop any time now. She is kept alone in a 4x2x2 enclosure where she has the ability to change her temps. I get a bit worried because the temp probe on the thermostat is on the cool side, and sometimes the heat will shut down.

I am crossing my fingers. Any thoughts? If anyone could give a better guess as to when you might think babies could happen given the info I provided...please feel free to comment. I am not sure when the actual breeding took place. This was a slight surprise I was mildly prepared for.

It really makes me wonder what the babies might look like.
