Fire Ball

wink0083 Oct 01, 2007 11:27 AM

I was looking through the adds dreaming of things I can't afford and saw one for fire balls. Now I have a couple of normal balls and keep up on morphs only slightly so this may be a stupid question, but what is a fire ball? The pics sure looked like normals to me. Anyhoo, thanks and pardon my ignorance.

Fire = het. black eyed leucistic

Fire x Fire = black eyed leucistic

The fire is a codominant morph; irl he looks a lot lighter than a wildcolor with typical blushes and head pattern.

Matt I appreciate that you're trying to show someone a morph, but it's generally frowned upon to post someone else's picture without asking, let alone giving them credit.

The above Fire and Black Eyed Leucistic were produced and photographed by Mike Wilbanks of Constrictors Unlimited.

Funny you should say that, just like when THEY neglected to credit the originator ''Erik Page Davies'' right

Not really sure what you're talking about, but if I see someone posting someone else's photos and directly linking to their bandwidth I usually say something.

Clark used and promoted Davies's first produced Leucistic as if it were his without ever crediting the originator! That my friend is very sad...

Thanks for the backing Medusah, but please let's not go down that road again, it caused a lot of aggro that we can now do without. Onwards and upwards. LOL!! Eric Page-Davies

Fire babies tend to vary quite a bit in appearance, but most do look "normal" in photos. In person however they are easily distinguished as something different. Grouped in with normals they stick out like a sore thumb. They get lighter as they age which should really clean up most of our favorite morphs. Here's a picture of my breeder male with a normal female.

Thanks, I can surely see the difference here. Having my college degree in genetics, I'm always surprised by how few of the morphs are visibly heterozygous. It also goes to show how important good lighting is in photos. Change the camera contrast a bit and it could look like a normal next to an extra dark specimen.

Anyhoo, thanks for the education. I can rest assured that I learned my one new thing for the day!!!

They are also used to lighten a variety of other morphs as well. Take a look at the fire pastel and you will see what the fuss is about!

Alot of people have said my Emberball is probably a Fire. They have NOT proven to be Fires yet, but here are some pics.

First pic is a baby, PRIOR to its first shed. Second pic is a yearling Ember with a normal, third pic is a baby Ember taken right after its first shed.
