Rat Bite

Rowebert Oct 01, 2007 02:58 PM

My BP Alex got bit today eating a rat. He was bleeding from his neck. The vet said use novalsan, but I can't affofrd it. I used diluted hand sanitiser and put triple anti-biotic on it. It said in The Complete Ball Python to do this twice a day.

It is a terrible thing to see happen. Keep it clean and use a antibotic cream that has no pain reliever in it. I would put him on paper towel till it heals. It should heal just fine. His next shed make sure that the humidity is up because he will have a scab and when he sheds the scab may get torn off. If so just put more cream on it. I have had a few bites and it sucks. Next feeding try a prekilled. I notice if they get bit they switch a little easier. Good luck.

Thanks, I'll put the towels in his house. Today was paday, so I'm going to Rodent Pro.
