Does anyone know what he might be?

joblack83 Oct 01, 2007 10:39 PM

We bought him from Petco. He was the "orange one" of the group. I tried to post the best picture we have of him, I'll post more later. Please let us know what you think of him, we are really interested in what people think. We are thinking either amel with the caramel influence or a creamsicle. Thanks.

either way is amel, thats all. there is tons of variation in corns that they all look different.

if they htought it was a cream they would charge more

if it had caramel influence it would be yellow, they would call it a butter and sell it for more.

why would you go to petco? for a few bucks more you could have gotten a way better snake from don sodderburg.

What is wrong with that snake? I don't like chains but if that is the snake they like and it is in good health what is wrong with it?

thats what i meant, petco will sell you an unhealthy snake (sometimes overpriced) and not care if it lives or dies. they barely ever take care of thier animals.

if you buy from a good breeder, you know exactly what morph your going to get and you know it will eat right off the bat and you know its healthy.

before i knew better i got 2 balls from petco, one is a picky eater and gets blistered belly scales from anything but paper towel or carpet and both have had skin problems (one still does and it gets worse then goes away with shed and comes back again)

my blizzard corn from don is the heathiest thing i have, eats like a horse and grows like a weed

ok, just a funny thing I saw in the pic. But I thought caramels looked more like typical anery until they aged?

Caramel is anery Z right?

"This is the newest, proven recessive anerythristic trait. Young animals do look a lot like ANERYTHRISTIC, because the yellow develops with age, but then lots of it. It isn't clear wether ANERYTHRISTIC reduce the amount of yellow in a cornsnake or wether CARAMEL increases the amount of yellow and has some kind of HYPERXANTHIC effect. This morph was identified in 1991 by RichZ"

No, caramel is caramel and morph "Z" or "Cinder" is "Z." I wonder if this is all in the morph guide..... Does it give detailed history of every morph? I need to pick one of those up someday.

Caramel?

Another words they are all the same morph? Discovered by Rich Z, hence the use of Z. Most people thought it was from Zorro, but that is an error by many! lol

Actually, they are different morphs. Caramel is Anercy C, the gene used to make butters, ambers, etc. Anery Z is the morph being called Cinder, Ashy, Morph Z, etc etc right now until a concensus is reached. As far as I can tell, there are only two people breeding the Anery Z's right now. Namely, Rich Z and Carol, who managed to retrieve the gene from several animals she had bought off Rich before he knew what he had.

Hope this clears things up a bit.

Interesting. I know I have read threads saying C is Z. Logic was it should be C, but since it was Rich Z, it also carried Z.

That said, I totally believe what you say. It just makes me have to unlearn something and try to learn something new lol. So many morphs make a casual corn persons head spin.

Thanks

I breed my butter to my creamsicle and out of 21, 8 of the babies looked just like that. Four were snows and nine were a red version of the orange ones.
Still not sure what to call them, orange creamsicles and red creamsicles?
