Normal Ball Python?

HandInTheFlame Oct 01, 2007 11:35 PM

I have a ball python that I feel is a normal, but I just wanted to see what you guys think of him.
It seems to me that his patterning is extremely "regular," which isn't what I feel is the "normal" BP pattern. His pattern almost reminds me of a corn snake pattern, with the very well defined saddles evenly spaced out from one another.
Basically what I'm wondering is if the "normal" or "wild type" ball pythons are more based on coloring or patterning (or both), and what you guys think of my little guy (if he's anything special).

100% normal. Normals vary a LOT in color, pattern, etc -- these snakes are all completely normal and illustrate a perfect example of how much the "wild type" appearance varies:

A very nice normal ball python.

One thing that makes ball pythons so great as a pet is they are all unique. None have the exact same pattern or color.

Yours is interesting in its 'alien heads' are very uniform and similar to each other but this by itself isn't unusual. Not all ball pythons have highly irregular patterns which still fall in the 'normal wild type' look.

Of course many of the more subtle morphs have come from rather unusual looking normal ball pythons (ie mojave, fireball, granite, yellow belly, and others) but not all odd looking normal ball pythons will have that special twist...
