Help deciding which snake to add next

dsom11 Oct 02, 2007 12:17 AM

I'm ready to add another snake to the collection and I've narrowed it down to two species. A Blood Python or Brazilian Rainbow. Now the help I need is this.... I have a very large custom enclouser I want to add this snake to when it reaches proper size. Already in the enclouser is a Red Tail and a Jungle Carpet, both juveniles. Would I have any trouble housing either of the two species I'm considering with the two I already have?

One more thing while I at it...I have a Dumeril's yearling. I know they tend to be more canabilisitic when young. Would it be safe to add her to the enclouser as well once she's up to size. I would imagine as long as she's smaller than the others it should be alright. But I'm not about to lose a pet over an assumpstion so I'm seeking wisdom from those of you that have been at this longer and have seen more.

Thanks for any advice,
Jay

In my younger days I used to keep multiple animals in a single cage, but no longer. Unless it's breeding season, they are always separate. That said, a blood python is pretty much a non-moving animal, as opposed to the rainbow. They can get pretty hefty, but are basically slugs, lol. A rainbow will be pretty much like s common boa, just smaller.

that inadvertantly fed a Dumeril's a rather expensive meal consisting of a GTP!!! I'm a bit partial to the BRB's due to a more active nature....just keep it away from your Dumeril's!
